I am pursuing my masters in petroleum engineering at Penn State. The program so far has been good..very well structured and all that. The campus is simply too good with all the facilities. I am quite happy and would advise future students to apply here.

I wote GRE as well as TOEFL and I prepared for these myself (Barrons Kaplan test series). I used counsellor for my application process(private). My visa interview was decent. They grilled me on finances and my plans after finishing the course. I flew by Qatar airways that is from Hyderabad to state college airport via Doha, Philadelphia. My baggage was under the limit. I did not face any immigration issues at the airport.

Right now I have no funding but the college does offer TA, RA and wage pay rolls.

Probably as it is the beginning I cannot comment on the course structure and professors but all I can say is so far so good. Lecture halls are good, library has various resources, and sports facilities are amazing.

I am staying on campus. Social scene is cool where as night life is amazing. There is an international student body handling all major festivals back home.

As our university is ranked 23 all over the world the placement scene is good but right now the situation is bleak. It works in close cooperation between students, faculty contacts, job fairs, alumni contacts, internship programs etc..Probably I can tell more once I have settled down.
